On Saturday, Lancaster Bikes! members and friends taught safe riding skills to local kids at the AAA Bike Rodeo at Clipper Stadium.
A bike rodeo is an opportunity for kids to learn how to safely ride their bikes. At the event, professional mechanics from Gretna Bikes inspected each child's bike for safety and fixed small problems on the spot. The kids had their helmets checked for proper fit, and then learned how to use hand signals while riding.
Next, the kids rode through a series of stations in the parking lot - learning how to stop and start safely, scan for cars while riding, and dodge small obstacles in the road. The Common Wheel donated bikes and Lititz Bike Works donated helmets for any kids who didn't have them. It was a fun day for all!
